 Collaboratory Community Guidelines

Welcome to the Collaboratory Community! As we grow and thrive together, all members must follow this Code of Conduct, ensuring a positive and respectful environment for everyone. If you decide to participate in the Collaboratory Community in any capacity, we expect you to follow our Code of Conduct and abide by our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. Failure to do so may result in removal from the Community, and we really, really don't want to have to do that.

What follows isn't an exhaustive list of things that should or shouldn't be done. Instead, we ask you to take it in the spirit in which it’s intended—as a set of guidelines that make participating in the Collaboratory Community a more enriching, engaging, and inviting experience for everyone. Please use your best judgment when interacting in the Community, and please respect the following rules:

Respect and Inclusivity: Treat all community members with kindness, empathy, and respect. Embrace diversity and different viewpoints, fostering an inclusive space where everyone feels valued and heard.

Unsolicited Huddles: Avoid initiating unsolicited huddles or direct messages without prior consent. Everyone's time and preferences are unique, so respecting boundaries is crucial.

Privacy and Confidentiality: Respect the privacy of fellow members and the confidentiality of shared information. Trust is the foundation of our community, and breaching this trust may lead to removal.

Constructive Discussions: Engage in discussions thoughtfully and constructively. Disagreements are natural, but remember to express your opinions respectfully and consider the impact of your words.

No Harassment or Discrimination: Harassment or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated.

No Self-Promotion or Spam: While sharing relevant resources and achievements is encouraged, avoid excessive self-promotion or spamming.

Safe Environment: Refrain from sharing harmful or offensive content, including explicit language or images.

Using Threads: To streamline communication, please use threads for longer discussions or replies in channels. This helps keep the main conversation organized and accessible to all members.

Reporting Concerns: If you encounter any issues or witness violations of this Code of Conduct, please report them to the community moderators for appropriate action. You can tag @teagen or email [email protected] if you see something you'd like to flag for attention.

Stay Legal and Ethical: Respect copyright laws and avoid sharing any content that violates intellectual property rights.

Adhere to Community Guidelines: Follow any additional guidelines specific to individual channels or discussions within the community.

Finally, you understand that the Collaboratory Community is not a recruiting service and does not guarantee job placement. The services, resources, and information provided by the Collaboratory Career Hub, including within the Slack community, are intended to assist and support individuals in their career pursuits. However, it is important to note that the use of these services and community does not guarantee employment, job placement, or specific career outcomes.

As part of the Collaboratory Community, you acknowledge and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and our Terms and Conditions. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in removal from the community. Let's work together to create a positive, empowering space where everyone can progress in their careers and support each other!
